The Hallberg Rassy 38 is one of the Swedish yard’s most respected bluewater cruising yachts. Well known for its robust GRP construction, excellent seaworthiness, and comfortable long-distance cruising capabilities, the HR 38 has earned a reputation as a dependable offshore cruiser.

This 1980 example has been in the hands of her current owner for the past 26 years and has benefited from continuous maintenance and thoughtful upgrades throughout that time.

The deck has been extensively refurbished (2015–2021), deck hatches were renewed in 2018, a new boom was fitted in 2017, and the standing rigging was replaced in 2006.

The yacht is also equipped with a Windpilot Pacific windvane self-steering system, making her particularly attractive for extended passagemaking.

Below deck, HR 38 offers a warm and practical cruising interior featuring upgraded full leather upholstery and a fully equipped galley with modern induction cooktops, eliminating the need for gas on board.

She is fitted with a Fischer Panda generator (535 engine hours), Standard Horizon GPS, Simrad autopilot (2018), AIS, solar panels, and new 3 × 125 Ah batteries installed in 2026, providing excellent energy independence.

The original Volvo Penta MD21A engine remains in reliable working order, while the gearbox was professionally overhauled in 2016. The engine room would benefit from cosmetic attention. Underwater hull is reported to be in excellent condition.

The mainsail and headsails were renewed in 2014 and remain in good cruising condition, complemented by a 90 m² gennaker for light-air sailing.

The owner is leaving the boat fully equipped with all usable onboard inventory, making HR 38 a well-prepared and capable cruising yacht ready for her next adventure.
