Southerly 105 (1980), freshly renovated and upgraded, is a true project boat with a solid foundation and enormous potential. Similar to the Southerly 115 but regarded as the better sailing version, she features a deck saloon with new windows all around, a hard top, and a central cockpit offering an exceptional 180-degree panoramic view.
Her lifting swing-keel/daggerboard system provides a remarkable shallow draft of just 0.6 m, allowing her to safely take the ground at low tide. The keel and daggerboard have been fully dismantled, serviced, protected with anti-rust treatment, and repainted with primer on the bottom and topsides. A new electric keel winch system has been installed.
The hull sides and cockpit require one final layer of paint and polishing to achieve a high-gloss finish, making this an ideal opportunity for the next owner to complete her to their own standard.
Below deck, the aft and rear cabins have been fully renovated with new, high-quality mattresses and covers, while the saloon requires some finishing touches: installing the included napa leather panel on the bulkhead, reconnecting lighting, and refurbishing the saloon table.
The Yanmar 3GH engine has been comprehensively serviced, including gearbox, cooling system, new stainless-steel exhaust, hoses, Vetus gooseneck and locker, and new engine cables. The engine room has been upgraded with new sound insulation and a reorganized layout of filters, hoses, and wiring.
She is equipped with wheel steering, new steering cables, Raymarine ACU 200 autopilot (with backup SmartPilot brains included), rudder sensor, GPS, wind sensor, precision compass, and hydraulic system; the autopilot only needs reattachment after interior works.
Electronics include a Garmin plotter with charts, Garmin 18/24 radar, and Icom HF radio. Power systems feature two solar panels, an AirX wind generator with carbon blades, new starting and two service batteries, shore power, a refrigerator (to be connected), and an icebox.
With most of the heavy work already completed, this Southerly 105 needs time and final detailing to become a truly exceptional and versatile cruising vessel.
